The Diaspora for Africa Benefit Concert

The Diaspora for Africa Benefit Concert will be held in Copenhagen's Tivoli Concert Hall on November 17, 2006. International and local Danish musicians and artists, some of whom have appeared on the Diaspora For Africa Benefit Compilation CD, will lend their support and perform live to benefit The Spirulina Program initiated by IFAM and CISRI-ISP.

All proceeds from ticket sales, Diaspora For Africa CD sales & merchandise, plus a portion of the performing artists' proceeds from CD's and merchandise sold at the event will benefit The Spirulina Program.

As a sponsor for this event, your organisation will receive exposure via event marketing and communication targeting up to 900,000 consumers, be associated with UN-related humanitarian programs, and achieve goodwill on an international scale by supporting such an important cause that effects the entire Global Community.

This event is part of a series of activities with the goal of providing information concerning The Spirulina Program on a worldwide basis, and raising funds to implement this Program. As such, sponsor participation will have a lasting effect. International companies, corporations, and organisations seeking exposure in Denmark are welcome to participate.

The International Foundation Against Malnutrition Spirulina Program

Known for centuries, Spirulina is edible micro-algae. Under favorable conditions, it grows rapidly and produces an excellent source of protein and vitamins. It is a traditional food in some countries, and has gained popularity as a new health food in others.

Spirulina can help combat malnutrition, consistent with the UN Millennium Development Goal #1, to reduce extreme poverty and hunger.

The Conventions for the Use of Food Micro-Algae, Intergovernmental Institutional Spirulina Program (CISRI-ISP) works to promote the use of Spirulina against malnutrition. It has been established through two international agreements which are recognized in the UN Treaty Series1. CISRI-ISP is accredited as a Permanent Observer Mission with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), in keeping with resolution E/2003/212, dated 5 March 2003.
